Rihanna fans are again talking about her, but this time it is not about her songs. It is her new look that had brought her into limelight. The singer wowed her fans with a variety of spectacular outfits as she kicked off her European tour. Rihanna’s “Rude Boy” led Billboard’s Hot 100 singles chart for a fifth week on Thursday, once again fending off runner-up “Nothin’ on You” by B.o.B featuring Bruno Mars. Rihanna tour will start on April 19th Hallenstadion, Zurich, Zurich. She has been added her name to music’s biggest show of girl power and she will be part of this summer’s Lilith Fair festival tour. The R&B star will make a special appearance at Lilith’s Salt Lake City concert in Utah on 12 July. The 36-city tour will commence in Calgary, Canada on 27 June (10) and feature acts including Lilith Fair co-founder Sarah McLachlan, Emmylou Harris, Loretta Lynn, Beth Orton, Erykah Badu, Mary J. Blige and Sheryl Crow. Rihanna’s Lilith date will come during her upcoming Last Girl on Earth North American tour. Organizers of the revived Lilith Tour have announced the addition of superstar Rihanna to the Salt Lake City lineup, as well as the final 20 dates for the summer outing. Since last check, 16 shows have been added to the plan, which now encompasses 36 North American stops.

Justin Bieber is a Canadian-American pop/R&B singer. His performances on YouTube were seen by Scooter Braun, who later became his manager. Braun arranged for him to meet with Usher in Atlanta, Georgia, and Bieber was soon signed to Raymond Braun Media Group (RBMG), a joint venture between Braun and Usher, and then to a recording contract with Island Records offered by L.A. Reid.

Bieber was born on March 1, 1994 in Stratford, Ontario. Bieber’s mother, Pattie Mallette, was 18 years old when she became pregnant with her son. Bieber was raised as an only child by Mallette, who worked low-paying office jobs, though Bieber maintains contact with his father. As he grew, Bieber taught himself to play the piano, drums, guitar, and trumpet. While searching for videos of a different singer, Scooter Braun, a former marketing executive of So So Def, clicked on one of Bieber’s videos by accident. Impressed, Braun tracked down the theater Bieber was performing in, located Bieber’s school, and finally contacted Mallette. she permitted Braun to fly Bieber, then 13, to Atlanta, Georgia to record demo tapes. A week after arriving, Bieber sang for R&B singer/songwriter Usher, who arranged an audition with Antonio L.A. Reid at Island Def Jam Music Group, who in turn signed him to Island Records in October 2008. Bieber and his mother then moved to Atlanta, also the home of Usher and Braun, to base his career.

Bieber’s first single, “One Time”, was released to radio while Bieber was still recording his debut album. The song reached number 12 on the Canadian Hot 100 during its first week of release in July 2009, and later peaked at number 17 on the Billboard Hot 100. During fall 2009 it had success in international markets. The song was certified Platinum in Canada and the U.S. and Gold in Australia and New Zealand. Bieber’s first album My World, was released on November 17, 2009. Three consecutive singles, “One Less Lonely Girl”, “Love Me”, and “Favorite Girl”, were released exclusively on the iTunes store and charted within the top forty of the Billboard Hot 100. My World was eventually certified Platinum in the U.S. and Canada and Silver in the UK.

“Baby”, the lead single from the second half of his debut album, which features Ludacris, was released in January 2010 and became his biggest hit thus far, charting at number five in the U.S. and reaching the top ten in seven other countries. His album debuted at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200, making Bieber the youngest solo male act to top the chart since Stevie Wonder in 1963. My World 2.0 also debuted at number one on the Canadian Albums Chart, Irish Albums Chart, and Australian Albums Chart, and the New Zealand Albums Chart and reached the top ten of fifteen other countries.

Bieber’s popularity has caused safety concerns. While promoting My World, Bieber was scheduled to appear at Long Island’s Roosevelt Field Mall, but the performance had to be cancelled. Over 3,000 screaming fans showed up for the appearance. On April 26, 2010, a scheduled promotional performance was cancelled by Australian police after several girls were injured in a crowd crush. Arriving at Auckland airport in New Zealand later that day, RadioLIVE New Zealand reported on airport security’s efforts to keep Bieber out of trouble. He later tweeted that somebody stole his hat and “knocked down [his] mama.”

Bieber will begin recording his next album in the summer of 2010 in New York City. British singer and songwriter Taio Cruz has confirmed he is writing on Bieber’s next project. Back in 2004, Melissa Auf der Maur did the unimaginable and quietly upstaged her former Hole bandmate Courtney Love as they launched their debut solo projects in the same year – no mean feat. Full of the kind of overblown rock posturing left untapped since the early ’90s, her debut proved to be a guilty pleasure. Part of a Viking-themed multimedia project no less, follow-up ‘Out Of Our Minds’ feels woefully slight in comparison. Still brazenly intent on rhyming every other syllable, Auf der Maur too often leads these songs down aimless proggy tangents, resulting in what might well pass as background music for a goth dinner party.

Justin Bieber is a young man with a sweet voice who has been transformed into a huge entertainment machine. His CD insert lists everyone involved in his career so far, from the studio engineers and executive producers to the legal team and even the lady responsible for “grooming” that perfect hair. There’s no room for lyrics and barely any for photos.

My Worlds is Justin’s debut mini-album My World expanded, incorporating the tracks released as My World 2.0 in the US. It has been released in two halves because of an early, insatiable demand for songs, once his YouTube appeal was translated into a record deal.

Now, for all the talk about this album being by a teenager, for teenagers, there’s not a lot going on here which is unique to modern youth. Most people know what a first dance is, for example. And even the fustiest of grown-ups can work out what an “eenie meenie minie moe lover” is, if they think about it hard enough.

In fact it’s the songs which try to show understanding of the teenage world which fall over easily. Somebody to Love is a straightforward plea for a soul mate; it says something we’ve all felt, whereas I can safely say that no-one has ever compared love to maths homework, as they do in Common Denominator.

But despite the clunky moments, there’s ample proof that Team Bieber know exactly what they’re doing and who they’re talking to. As you’d expect, it’s the ballads that hit the hardest.

Stuck in the Moment is the classic doomed-love tragedy: they can’t be together, but they cannot bear to part. Naturally it mentions Romeo and Juliet, and Bonnie and Clyde. Up is the flipside, in which Justin realises love makes him invulnerable.

That Should Be Me, the grand finale, is going to cause nothing but emotional pandemonium in households and bedrooms all over the land. It’s a sobbing ballad in which Justin pleads the girl who left him behind (how could she?) to take him back.

Gorillaz are a British virtual band created in 1998 by Damon Albarn of Britpop band Blur, and Jamie Hewlett, co-creator of the comic book Tank Girl. The band is composed of four animated band members: 2D (lead vocalist, keyboard), Murdoc Niccals (bass guitar), Noodle (lead guitar and occasional vocals) and Russel Hobbs (drums and percussion). The band’s music is a collaboration between various musicians, Albarn being the only permanent musical contributor. Their style is a composition of multiple musical genres, with a large number of their influences including: dub, hip hop, alternative rock, electronic and pop music.

The band’s eponymous debut album, released in 2001, sold over seven million copies and earned them an entry in the Guinness Book of World Records as the Most Successful Virtual Band. It was nominated for the Mercury Prize 2001, but the nomination was later withdrawn at the band’s request. Their second studio album, Demon Days, was released in 2005 and included the singles “Feel Good Inc.”, “Dare”, “Dirty Harry” and “Kids with Guns”/”El Mañana”. Demon Days went five times platinum in the UK, double platinum in the United States and earned five Grammy Award nominations for 2006 and won one of them in the Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals category. Gorillaz have also released two B-sides compilations and a remix album. The combined sales of Gorillaz and Demon Days had, by 2007, exceeded 15 million albums. The band’s third studio album, titled Plastic Beach, was released in 2010.

NEW YORK – The name “Sam Adams” mainly has been associated with several American historical figures and a popular Boston beer — until now.

The city of Boston is laying claim to yet another Sam Adams: an upstart Trinity College rapper who emerged from obscurity when his primarily self-produced EP, “Boston’s Boy,” debuted atop iTunes’ hip-hop digital albums chart. Outpacing the sales of hip-hop superstars like Lil Wayne and DJ Khaled, the 22-year-old’s set sold nearly 8,000 digital copies in its first week.

Adams’ single, “I Hate College” — a remix of the Asher Roth hit “I Love College” — has tallied more than 1 million views on YouTube. He also counts more than 25,000 Facebook friends and close to 2,000 followers on Twitter.

Tegan & Sara latest album, “Sainthood,” has opened the door for the two to spend more time writing together.

Though the twin sisters have composed apart from each other during their 12 years as a group, they held a writing session together before hitting the studio for “Sainthood,” and one of their songs, “Paperback Head,” made the cut. “We wrote a bunch of other stuff together as well,” Tegan Quinn tells Billboard.com. “It was pretty late in the process where we’d sort of determined what songs we wanted to record already. We didn’t feel we wrote anything else that challenged those songs.”

Tegan says that the duo found their writing styles were not particularly compatible, with Sara by far the more “meticulous” of the two. But with “Paperback Head” the sisters, who live on opposite sides of their native Canada, discovered they could work together if they weren’t in the same room. “We’ve been sharing files and sending MP3s back and forth and collaborating that way,” she says. “We find it easier. “But I’m glad we did try to sit in a room together and do it so we could see how we each worked. I felt proud we were able to do it without being arrested or killing each other.”

Tegan, who also did some writing for “Sainthood” with AFI bassist Hunter Burgan, her partner in a forthcoming side project, predicts that “there is definitely a project in the future that will just be Tegan & Sara collaborating on songs. I know a lot of people are like, ‘OK, whatever;’ they assumed this whole time we’d been writing together. But I think a record written solely as Tegan & Sara songs would sound very different than anything we’ve done before.”

That project will certainly have to wait until after Tegan & Sara tour in support of “Sainthood.” The duo is on the road in North America through early April, with Australian dates on tape for May. They’ll also be part of this year’s Honda Civic Tour, but they’re particularly excited about being on Sarah McLachlan’s Lilith Fair bill when the festival tour resumes this summer.

With a 2-1 rise for “Telephone,” Lady Gaga and the track’s featured artist Beyoncé have tied the record for most No. 1s since the Nielsen BDS-based radio airplay chart launched in 1992. The pair joins Mariah Carey, who tallied six toppers between 1993 and 2005. Lady Gaga and Beyonce pass Avril Lavigne, Pink, Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake, each with five No. 1s.

Beyonce first led Pop Songs with “Crazy in Love” in 2003, while Lady Gaga first appeared on the chart just 16 months ago. The latter performer, in fact, has yet to fall short of the survey’s summit, reaching No. 1 on her first six tries:

NEW YORK – Sony has reached a deal with Michael Jackson’s estate that could be worth as much as $250 million, the Wall Street Journal reported on Monday, citing people familiar with the situation.

The report said the deal, coming months after Jackson’s death, is the most lucrative recording contract ever signed. It guarantees the estate at least $200 million, according to the newspaper’s Web site, and involves 10 albums over seven years.

The deal will combine a mix of previously unreleased songs and new packages of familiar ones, according to the report.
